Meet the Portstone team

I have been at Portstone since 1992 I enjoy getting to know Portstone's customers and helping them enjoy their gardening experience and advising them on their gardening requirements.

The Portstone team have incredible knowledge and we focus on excellent customer service.

We focus on having products a little different and are proud to stock Dragonstone from England, NZ made Winter Gardenz greenhouses and stock Kings Seeds.

Anything to do with accounts, advertising, newsletters, website and social media, its me. I am also known to help customers at the counter.

Gardeners are decent people, we have a great customer following and having good relationships with those customers is vital.

We have a really passionate team - our working environment is fabulous - how can you not feel good being amongst plants and with the cafe so handy coming to work is easy.

I like working with plants and to be outside, although I have been know for feeling a little cold in winter. So if you see someone out in the bedding area, with 10 jackets, hats and gloves on, don't be afraid, its only me!
My role is looking after the bedding plants, perennials, herbs and roses.  Planting up baskets and creating displays, are two of my favourites.
I enjoy chatting to customers so please come and see me if your have any gardening questions.

Janet and Sue

The dynamic duo. These ladies have worked in the gardening industry for years and have worked together for 21 years. Janet has worked for 46 years and Sue for 34 years total. So to say they have great knowledge is an under statement!

You will find there front of house, they are wonderful with customers.

Cheryl's role is helping create a pleasant shopping-browsing environment, whilst helping you with your gardening needs.

You will find Cheryl in the undercovered area, attending to the glasshouses or at the front counter.

I have worked as a garden designer for 27 years, and been at Portstone since 2000.

What I love about my job is helping people achieve a garden with panache, but in a practical way.
I especially enjoy using a broad palette of plants - available of course at Portstone.
The best aspect of my job is the wide variety of customers I see, both in the garden centre and on their home turf.

Joined the Portstone team August 2018.

Being involved in the Kaiapoi community gardens Debbie has green fingers and this shows in her role in the bedding and shrub area as she helps create a pleasant shopping environment.

Lynnie feels at home in the garden centre, having a lifetime love of plants. With a talent for displays and knowledge Lynnie can be found in the shrub area. She focuses on helping customers find that one plant or a large number of plants for their gardens, and she really does enjoy being amongst the foliage.
